Do you really get your purpose right?
I never knew how to define my purpose - and this should be the backbone of our life, work and service.
I never knew how to define my purpose - and this should be the backbone of our life, work and service. For me, purpose seemed like something that was constantly shifting. Because I was equalling it to what I was DOING, not who I was BEING. And the doing part has experienced many pivots along the way.
The whole “define your purpose” thing felt rather empty and confusing until the realisation hit: your purpose is not what you DO, or how you DO it!
Your true and primary purpose starts with WHY you’re here, which is actually the same for everyone - the highest purpose for all of us is to live as much as we can in our fullest and highest potential. It’s actually something very intimate and internal, sacred even.
Now comes the question that creates the channel for your purpose to “manifest” - WHICH? Which values and qualities of your BEING are your authentic truth in the present moment, and are you focusing on coherence between the inner knowing, your thoughts, words and actions.
“What” and “How” are really just tactics derived from the primary purpose, requiring continuous refining and fine-tuning rather than automation or blind attachment. When you grip onto “what” and “how”, without the true understanding of “why”, you create rigidity and unnecessary solidification that is like a dam obstructing the natural and organic flow of life, led by the higher knowing.
So writing your new purpose statement is easy:
“I commit to reaching my fullest and highest potential on Earth through _______________ {insert your values, not the activities that you’re set out to do}.”
